Rigid Kawasaki BOB

Rigid Industries of Mesa, AZ is joint-owned and operated by Jason Christiansen, Taylor Anderson, and Seth Anderson. Their 26,000 square foot facility is home to seven employees who build more than 30 off-road vehicles per year. In addition to manufacturing their own components, they are also a wholesaler, retailer, and service facility for the off-road industry. They were founded in 2004, the same year they picked up their first Side X Side units. Their specialty, in fact, is UTV customization, with an emphasis on high-intensity LED lighting.Jason, Taylor, and Seth began as off-road enthusiasts before going into business, so when they develop anything new, they test the products themselves. They are keenly aware of how hard the current economy is on enthusiasts, which is why they work hard to deliver the best value for their customer’s hard-earned dollars. They encourage potential customers to call them for advice when purchasing a UTV to avoid spending money on a vehicle that isn’t suited for their interests and/or application. And when it comes to safety, their biggest concern is that people will cut corners to save money, potentially ending up with a cage, for example, that is not strong enough to protect their family. For the Battle of the Builders, Rigid chose white Maeier Plastics because they provide a very nice custom look and are less expensive than a full paint job. Their custom-designed front bumper and two-seat cage are powder coated to match and create nice, flowing lines with or without a bed delete. (They decided to remove the bed for their build-off Teryx.) PRP/Rigid Signature Series suspension seats increase comfort for the driver and passenger alike. Black-finished Hi-Per Wheels are lightweight and Maxxis Bighorn Tires provide great traction for most terrains. A +6” +1” front and rear suspension setup made of 300m Tig-welded chromoly was added, along with optional Elka shocks. In terms of performance, Rigid opted for a Muzzy Dual Exhaust for greater power gains through the high end – and it just sounds great. Their favorite accessory or modification was the addition of an 840cc Big Bore Kit which added tremendous power and torque gains. A Rigid clutch kit transfers the power to the wheels much better, holds RPM in the power range, and increases backshifting. A PWR radiator provides greater cooling efficiency to cool the beast.

The Battle of the Builders was a great opportunity for Rigid Industries to show off their newest LED lighting. “Our new EDGE series LED lights are the best technology on the market,” says Jason. “Highly efficient and extremely bright, this technology will revolutionize the off-road lighting market.”
The guys at Rigid like to describe the work they do as “front to back.” From lights to bumpers and everything in between, they build it, sell it or service it. While they would probably have built a more modest unit for their average customer watching a budget, their build-off Teryx was a good example of their teamwork and talent.
