| PDS Fabrication, Inc. is one of the original Side X Side specialists in Southern California. Their first UTV was a 2006 Yamaha Rhino, designed to match a Jeep Wrangler on display at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The Rhino featured their first four-seat cage which received such an overwhelmingly positive response that it became their trademark PDS Cruiser Cage.The four-seat cage is one of the main reasons that family cruisers have become one of their most popular Side X Side packages. Because more and more off-road enthusiasts are enjoying the sport as a family, they have chosen to make family fun and safety their specialty. They view each of their customers with a unique perspective as they become their friends and like family to them, which is why they call their gatherings “Friends and Family Rides.”One of the biggest mistakes they see at PDS is that people get so caught up in the appearance of their Side X Side that they overlook safety options. “While we have a great respect for the aesthetic quality of the vehicle, we encourage our customers to look closely at the structural integrity of any cage or aftermarket accessory they are considering,” says Bob Ryzewski, PDS owner. “Our belief is that, while you may want to skip on some of the luxury items, never skip on the safety features.”For the Battle of the Builders, PDS Fabrication factored in both the safety and the aesthetics with their Teryx. They started with good bones – strength provided by a PDS Cruiser Teryx Cage, a PDS Sport Front Bumper, PDS Gen 2 Rear Bumper, PDS Baja Doors with Panels, and an aluminum roof. A PDS LED Light Bar is another safety feature for night rides and an XL Cooler Rack can be considered a safety feature for day rides if you carry water (which is what you’re packing, right?)Somewhere between beauty and brawn are other features such as seats, belts, suspension, and tires. Twisted Stitch Aggressor Seats with adjustable head rests and lumbar support are a safe, comfortable place for driver and passengers to settle in for the ride. Crow 3×3 four-point safety harnesses are clearly a necessary safety item. Afco Replacement Teryx Shocks improve performance and handling. ITP SS112 Black and Machined Finish rims with ITP Terracross 14-25 tires and 1.5” wheel adaptors provide more width, more stability, better traction, and better handling – and they look good…. A PDS Teryx Stage 2 Performance Package is a complete UTV transformation, an upgrade for more power, faster reaction time, and more direct power through the motor, from low to mid to high. The performance is noticeably different compared to the factory setup. Finally, she has to be good to look at, too. PDS kept the factory plastics, but added a custom paint job in white, red, and black. Side X Side Customs did a complete audio package for the Teryx, featuring a Fusion head unit with an iPod dock and satellite radio. Powering the Marine speakers mounted in SSV Works molded enclosures is also a Fusion amp to complete the sound package. The biggest challenge that PDS faced was including everyone’s opinion in the decision-making process. “The hardest part was trying to get everyone’s perspective on how the vehicle should look and trying to make it all come together just right,” says Bob. “In the end, the finished piece turned out to exceed even our expectations and that was a good feeling to have. We are proud to present this Teryx as our own.” |
